Production Development Engineering Manager

The primary role of the Product Development Engineering Manager for Cryomech is to lead and supervise a team of engineers, research and development, and technical staff as they develop, test, modify, and create cryogenic solutions for our customers. This role reports to the COO.

This role requires overall coordination of project management, quality assurance, coaching and developing and continuous improvement activities within the process area. Responsible for leading the engineering teams in the company's mission to meet or exceed all our customer's expectations while improving process metrics. The Product Development Engineering Manager complies with policies, regulations and values for safety, quality, environmental, regulatory and financial stewardship.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Hire, supervise and lead engineers and technicians who design and improve products.
  • Participate in overall business leadership as part of the management team
  • Oversee the research and development of new products and procedures.
  • Train, and mentor other engineers and supporting staff.
  • Write performance reviews and solve internal issues.
  • Discuss and lay out project specifications.
  • Make detailed plans to accomplish goals.
  • Analyze market demand and available resources.
  • Review, approve, or modify product designs.
  • Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts.
  • Negotiate research contracts.
  • Approve expenditures.
  • Review and recommend contracts.
  • Develop cost estimates.
  • Draft proposals and reports for clients.
  • Improve manufacturing processes and advance scientific research.
  • Develop overall concepts for a new product.
  • Check technical accuracy of work.
  • Establish administrative policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Confer with higher levels of management.

  • Technical Capacity:
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and training documents.

    • Demonstrated understanding of project management processes, strategies and methods. Proficient in planning and control of work in a multi-project, deadline driven environment
  • Problem Solving/Analysis/Trouble shooting:
    • Excellent analytical thinker and problem-solving skills. Meticulous attention to detail
  • Communication Proficiency:
    • The ability to communicate effectively verbally or written with others to include both inside/outside customers.
  • Leadership:
    • Advanced experience and proven ability to lead and supervise others through times of company growth and/or change. Strong team-building abilities
  • Computer skills:
    • Advanced experience in desktop software packages Microsoft Office Suite and 3D Modeling Suites


  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or University in Engineering or related field; Minimum of eight years management with supervision experience in a research and development or manufacturing plant; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
